On 2025 November 7, the UCLA Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging (CIMI-UCLA) and Guangzhou Biolight Technology Co., Ltd. (BLT) jointly announced the establishment of the CIMI-UCLA & BLT In Vivo Imaging Center at the University of California, Los Angeles.
This center marks BLT’s first co-established demonstration site in North America and will provide researchers in the region with direct access to advanced in vivo imaging technologies and application support.

The UCLA Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging is a leading interdisciplinary research hub that integrates expertise across physics, engineering, chemistry, and medicine. Its research focuses on developing next-generation molecular imaging tools for real-time visualization and quantitative analysis of biological processes—supporting progress in early disease detection, biomedical research, and precision medicine.
As a national high-tech enterprise dedicated to high-end life science instruments and reagents, BLT has built a comprehensive technology platform in molecular and in vivo imaging. The center features the AniView Phoenix Full-Spectrum In Vivo Imaging System, which offers imaging capabilities spanning the visible to NIR-II range. This provides robust support for research areas such as oncology, drug discovery, and stem cell therapy.

The collaboration reflects the shared vision of both organizations: enabling researchers to convert complex biological dynamics into clear, actionable scientific information. By integrating complementary expertise, BLT and the Crump Institute aim to promote the development of imaging technologies and broaden their applications in life science research.
“We are honored to collaborate with the UCLA Crump Institute in establishing our first imaging demonstration center in North America,” said Dr. Luo Wenbo, General Manager of BLT. “This partnership represents an important step in BLT’s global development strategy and will allow us to support researchers in the region with high-quality technologies and application insights.”

The newly established center is BLT’s fifth joint research and demonstration platform worldwide—following collaborations with the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Sciences, Zhengzhou University, and Sichuan University. It is also BLT’s first platform in North America.
This initiative strengthens BLT’s global collaboration network and supports long-term partnerships with leading scientific institutions. By working together with the Crump Institute and the broader North American research community, BLT aims to help advance imaging technologies and contribute to scientific discovery in the life sciences.
